Mulch Installation and Bed Maintenance
Fresh mulch does more than make your landscape beds look finished. It holds moisture in the soil, regulates ground temperature, and suppresses weed growth. A properly mulched bed means healthier plants and less maintenance for you.
What's Included in Our Mulching Service
We don't just dump mulch and leave. Our process starts with preparing the bed so the mulch actually does its job.
- Edge the beds to create clean, defined borders between your lawn and landscape areas
- Pull existing weeds and remove any debris or old decomposed mulch that's broken down
- Spread fresh mulch at the right depth, typically 2-3 inches, without piling it against plant stems or tree trunks
- Clean up any spillover on walkways, driveways, or lawn areas
Why Mulch Depth Matters
Too little mulch won't suppress weeds or retain moisture. Too much can suffocate plant roots and create a breeding ground for pests. We apply mulch at the proper depth for your specific beds and plantings.
Mulch Volcanos Kill Trees
You've probably seen it: mulch piled high around tree trunks like a volcano. This common mistake traps moisture against the bark, encourages rot, and invites insects and disease. We keep mulch pulled back from trunks to protect your trees.
Best Time to Mulch
Late spring is ideal. The soil has warmed up, and a fresh layer of mulch will help retain that warmth and moisture through summer. Fall mulching also works well, protecting root systems heading into winter.
